Keeping busy with cross stitch patterns over the winter months! My mother gave me this kit for Christmas and it took me about a month to complete it. It was so much fun! I love showing my friends the completed project because my 20-something year old friends are just amazed by the amount of detail involved in cross stitching!

National Cupcake Day for the SPCA
To my lovely readers,
I have something delicious planned for you!
I’m holding a Cupcake Day event for National Cupcake Day™ for SPCAs & Humane Societies.
It’s a scrumptious event and will help raise awareness and urgently-needed funds to support animals that are abused, abandoned, neglected, or no longer wanted - and I need your support!
My Cupcake Day will be on Monday, February 23rd at the Sobeys in Larry Uteck right at the front of the store by the exit!
I’ll be baking the most delicious, delectable and scrumptious cupcakes you can possibly imagine. I just KNOW you want one! Or two! Or a bunch!
I will also be collecting pet foods, cat litter, towels and anything else you'd like to donate to the Dartmouth SPCA.
Will you please donate online to join my Cupcake Day party? Not only will you get to enjoy a yummy cupcake, but you’ll be supporting a cause that really matters to me!! ♥
You can donate online – it’s safe, secure and super easy or come see me in person!
www.nationalcupcakeday.ca search Nicole Hubley
Feel free to message me if you have questions about National Cupcake Day. I really hope you’ll support me and the animals that we all love!
Deliciously Yours,
Makingerby
Teriyaki Chicken
Attempting to really spice up my chicken recipes! This was my attempt of Teriyaki Chicken!
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp cornstarch
Combine cornstarch and water together to create a slurry
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 tsp epicures minced garlic
1/4 tsp ground pepper
Combine all ingredients and slurry into a pot and bring to a boil. Pour mixture onto 2 chicken breasts ( I sort of made a little foil bowl on the pan to avoid a big mess on the pan)
Bake at 450 degrees for 30 minutes. Flip chicken and cook for another 15 minutes or until chicken is fully cooked.
Enjoy!

January Ipsy Bag Review
So this months Ipsy bag was LATE my goodness I felt like I was waiting an eternity! It didn't help that my roommate got hers 2 weeks before I received mine! But here it is!
This months bag included...
Coastal Scents
Liquid Eyeliner
Elizabeth Mott
All Over Shadow Brush
La Fresh Eco-Beauty
Be Good. Good Day. Day Moisturizer
Pacifica
Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow
Velvet 59
Velvet Rose Lipgloss
Got some dual colour going on with the bag!

Elizabeth Mott
All Over Shadow Brush
La Fresh Eco-Beauty
Be Good. Good Day. Day Moisturizer
Pacifica
Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow
Velvet 59
Velvet Rose Lipgloss
Plus! I got a little surprise! I had redeemed 1000 ipsy points for a dual mascara and eye liner to be shipped with my bag- but something got a little messy in the ipsy world and I ended up getting this lip balm instead!
Don't fret though! My eyeliner is on it's way! Ipsy was very good at fixing me up- so essentially I just got a free lip balm!
I love this lip balm! It's so soft and smells amazing! It was a nice little life bonus!
First up in my bag this month was...
Coastal Scents Liquid Eyeliner
The liner isn't as intense as I like to wear, the black is rather light, however the applicator is nice and it goes on very evenly so all in all I do like this product.
Elizabeth Mott All Over Shadow Brush
Well now this brush is just so darn pretty! The pink handle is so graceful! And the bristles are very soft and it worked very nicely!
La Fresh Eco-Beauty Be Good. Good Day. Day Moisturizer
First of all... I do not like this packaging... You can't neatly put it anywhere... It literally is lying down on the back of my toilet because that's the only place it fits! HOWEVER the moisturizer is wonderful! Very soft and thick, I really really like it! ... Now lets just get it in a bottle!!
Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow
This was a wonderful treat this month! A full sized product! The shade is a very neutral colour and I've worn it almost everyday since I received it! (using my lovely new brush of course) It's very versatile with any look and has a slight shimmer to it! I love anything with a shimmer!
Velvet 59 Velvet Rose Lip gloss
Velvet 59 Velvet Rose Lip gloss
I'm just going to get straight to the point... This lip gloss is terrible! It's incredibly sticky and almost impossible to wash off! The shade is neutral so literally you just have shiny sticky lips with this.. Not like.
And there it is! My January Ipsy Bag was a relative success (except for the lipgloss....) I'm really impressed with Ipsy's customer service, which that by itself will keep my subscription going strong!

Layer the vegetables on top of the beef in the pan.
Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and enjoy!

Mmmm... veggies
6 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped into smaller pieces for easy boiling
1 tbsp light sour cream
1/2 a bunch of green onions, chopped
1 tsp margarine
Boil potatoes until soft, add the margarine, green onion and sour cream and mash potatoes until fluffy.
Layer the potatoes to the pan and sprinkle with 1/4 shredded cheddar cheese
Garlic Pizza Crust
Getting back on the eating right band wagon!
Here's a little flavour kick to an easy pizza dough recipe!
(2 Pizzas)
2 tbsp Active Dry Yeast
2 cups Warm Water
1 tsp Sugar
4 cups All-purpose Flour (plus extra for kneading)
4 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tsp epicure herb & garlic dip mix
Dissolve yeast and sugar in the warm water. Let sit until fermented.
Mix the rest of the ingredients in a large bowl and add the water/ yeast mixture
Knead the dough in a bit more flour then cover and let rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.
Divide in half and press into greased pizza pans.
The smell that came off this dough while i was kneading it was intoxicating!
I am such a pizza snob, there is nothing better in my life then a homemade pizza!!

HP Pavillion x360 Review
So I did something last night that I almost never do... I bought myself an expensive treat!! (Well relatively expensive anyway) And it coincides with one of my many New Years Resolutions!! (And frankly one of the more important ones too)
My poor 7 year old 13" MacBook will be banished to the craft room for now to make way for my adorably petite 11" HP Pavillion x360 Convertible Laptop!
It took me a long time to bite the bullet that I wouldn't be able to afford another MacBook... After 7 years it's been a bit of a transition back (the "X" is on the wrong side........) but other then that I am really enjoying it!
The screen can rotate almost 360 degrees (thus the name) and turn into almost a tablet, it doesn't have perfect features to be a tablet but let me tell ya... I took it with me to bed last night and it was so nice to be able to bend the keyboard back!
I'm not going to get deep into processor information and things like that because frankly.... I don't understand that stuff nor do I currently have the desire to! I don't game or download movies frequently. I literally just type documents, search the web, watch netfix and blog... And trust me the insides on this computer work perfectly fine for all of that!
This was a super affordable option for me, taxes and environmental fees in it was $550... YEAH I did a little dance at the cash I swear! I'd been researching MacBooks for so long that that price (y'know ... 1/3 of the price of the comparable Mac) just blew my mind!
Anyways I'm super excited about this new toy, I hope it stands the test of time like my little engine of a MacBook did!

This couldn't have come at a better time! In true New Years Resolution form I am getting my body back on track, the holidays were rough on the system, and my skin! Geeze is my skin ever broken out!
Day 1 (Jan 1st... Tad hung over)- My goodness these pills are HUGE and they have an interesting red powder to them.
And of course they went down sideways.. Geeze I better get better at this!
Day 2 (Woke up for work at 4am)- Well I have to say I thought the 4am alarm time was going to be painful! But it surprisingly wasn't too bad.
Day 3 I've had a bit of a cold for the past few days which has made me rather sluggish, this morning after sleeping for 11 hours last night I felt incredibly better!! I'll credit some of that to all the supplements I'm taking right now!
Day 4 Trying to get back into an exercise routine... It's not fun yet just work. I'm hoping the supplements will help with the transition! Also... I an happy to report my skin is finally starting to clear up!
Day 5 Well today was as good as Mondays get, happy to report energy levels seem strong!
Day 6 Alright I have to say I am very impressed with my energy levels! Normally I am exhausted after a day at work but today I was ready to rock the world! Even the workout routines are getting less painful!
Day 7 Well I must say the most significant difference I've felt while taking this supplement is definitely the energy levels! It's been especially noticeable with the fact that all my new years resolutions are in full swing. Also I'm happy to report that my face is nice and soft again! However I'm sure some of that can also be contributed to eating better again after the holidays.

This is the end of the BrandBacker supported review. It takes approximately 2 weeks to feel the full effects of these supplements, so in 7 days I will give my final review on the full effects of the product. However I'm already starting to feel positive symptoms so I am looking forward to seeing what I'm in store for!

Slow Cooker Chicken
As part of getting back on track for the new year I popped a whole chicken in the slow cooker to start off the week on a good note!
It almost didn't fit in my teenie tiny slow cooker but I made it work!
1 Whole Fresh Chicken
1/2 an Onion, chopped
Salt and Pepper to taste (I used Epicure Maple Bacon Sea Salt and Epicure 4 Pepper Blend)
Combine all ingredients in the slow cooker and set on High for 6 hours or Low for 8 hours.
Enjoy the long benefits and countless recipes you can make with this simple chicken!
